Tukes Valley Primary kindergarten teacher Melinda Beachell has earned National Board Certification, one of the highest professional distinctions available to educators in the United States. This credential recognizes accomplished teachers who demonstrate advanced knowledge, strong instructional practices and a deep commitment to student learning. The certification process requires educators to submit extensive evidence of their teaching practice, analyze student learning and demonstrate content knowledge through assessments.

National Board Certification was created by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards to recognize and support accomplished educators across the country. Often described as the “gold standard” in teaching credentials, it goes beyond standard state licensure and highlights educators who meet nationally recognized standards for excellence in teaching.

Beachell has worked in BGPS as a substitute, special education teacher and kindergarten teacher. Her National Board Certification is in the area of literacy at the early/middle childhood level. By earning this certification, Beachell joins a group of educators who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to their profession and to student success.
